landedthis is a web page you throw your phone with: it reads the phone’s motion sensors, tells a throw from a hand, and scores the tricks. Scoring and the motion readings stay on the phone. A trace leaves it only when you choose share or claim it; limited product analytics can be turned off below. Like any website, ordinary requests still reach our host, and Google may process data for ads as described below.

publisher and controller

QUALITY F2P, a French société par actions simplifiée unipersonnelle (SASU) with share capital of €1, publishes landedthis.com and is its data controller.

motion sensors

While a throw is armed — after you tap your move and, on iOS, allow motion access — the page reads acceleration, rotation rate and orientation from the browser’s devicemotion and deviceorientation events, about sixty times a second. The readings are processed in the browser: the flight is detected there and scored there. Reading the sensors sends nothing anywhere. Outside an armed throw the page does not listen, and on a computer it never asks.

throws on your device

Each throw becomes a trace: the motion samples of the flight, when it happened, the score and trick name, any name you give it, and the browser’s platform and user-agent string. Traces are stored in your browser’s IndexedDB (a database named throwmotion) and listed under yours on the leaderboard. They stay on the device until you delete them there or clear the site’s data in your browser. We cannot see them.

sharing and claiming

Two actions upload a trace to our servers, and nothing else does:

Each upload also carries a random device key your browser generated (see storage, below), so that a claim can be matched to the device that made it. The server re-scores the motion itself; the number on the board is its own.

An uploaded trace is motion data and timestamps — not your location, your contacts or anything else on the phone. Uploaded traces may be added to the dataset we use to develop and test the scoring. Deleting a throw under yours removes it from your device; to take a claimed throw off the board or have an uploaded trace removed, email us the link.

what is stored in your browser

landedthis itself does not set first-party cookies. It keeps these values in local or session storage; Google may use cookies and similar storage for consent and advertising, as described below.

The session values go when the tab closes. The other values stay until you change the relevant choice, delete a throw, or clear the site’s data. Google’s advertising uses storage of its own, described below.

analytics

By default, we record a small number of product events to see whether the app works: page viewed (whether the window is a phone or a desktop, whether sensors were found, and how you arrived), motion asked, granted or denied, fusion resolved, armed, throw landed, replay watched, board viewed, claim tapped, claimed, claim failed, shared, retry tapped (which retry it was and whether it was eligible for an ad) and ad slot viewed. Each event carries the random analytics identifier above, a session number and a timestamp — no name, contact details or motion data.

Events go to our own server first (/api/events), which forwards them to Amplitude, Inc. (USA), adding only the country derived from your IP address at our edge. The address itself is not forwarded. There is no tracking across other sites. We keep these events for no longer than 13 months. You can turn analytics off without losing any feature; doing so immediately stops future events and removes the identifier and session values from this browser.

advertising

The site shows ads served by Google AdSense — Google Ireland Limited for people in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google LLC elsewhere. There are two placements: one native ad after the third row of the public leaderboard, and, on some taps of again, a full-screen ad you can dismiss. An ad is marked Ad, is never a throw, and a tap on it goes to Google.

Google and its partners use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads, to measure them and to prevent fraud. With your consent, ads may be personalised from your activity on this and other sites. Depending on your choice, location and Google’s settings, Google may instead serve non-personalised or limited ads; refusing optional purposes does not block landedthis. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, a consent message from Google appears on your first visit: you can consent, refuse, or manage purposes and partners. Google adds an always-available privacy and cookie settings link so you can change the choice later. In US states with privacy laws, a notice lets you opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for advertising.

You can also opt out of personalised advertising in Google’s ad settings, at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu. How Google uses information from sites that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

hosting and security

The site’s technical hosting and infrastructure provider is Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, +1 650 319 8930, on a worldwide network. Its Workers run the app, its D1 database holds the leaderboard, and its R2 storage holds uploaded traces. Cloudflare sees your IP address and request metadata to serve and secure the site, keeps short-lived technical and security records under its service policies, and rate-limits uploads and events — an address that posts too fast is told to slow down. We do not create a separate IP-address database or forward the address to Amplitude.

how long

on what basis

Under the GDPR we process data to provide what you ask for — arming, scoring, storing a throw on your device, sharing and claiming it; in our legitimate interest in operating, securing and improving the service — technical records, rate limiting and using voluntary uploaded traces to test the scorer, and limited product analytics; and with your consent for personalised advertising and, where the law requires it, advertising storage. You may object to reuse of an uploaded trace by asking us to remove it and can turn analytics off above. Advertising consent can be withdrawn through Google’s privacy and cookie settings, and withdrawal does not affect processing completed before it.

where data goes

Cloudflare, Amplitude and Google process data in the United States and elsewhere outside the European Economic Area. Those transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified under it, and otherwise on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

automated scoring

The score and trick name are calculated automatically from the trace. They are for play and leaderboard ranking only; they do not make a decision with legal or similarly significant effects about you.

your rights

You can ask us for access to the personal data we hold about you, for its correction or erasure, for a restriction of its processing, for a copy of it in a portable form, and you can object to processing based on our legitimate interest. Most of what the app knows is in your own browser, where you can look at it, export it — every uploaded trace is a file at /traces/<id>.json — and delete it yourself. For anything else, email qualityf2p+landedthis@gmail.com; include the public throw link when the request concerns an upload. We normally answer a complete request within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French supervisory authority, at cnil.fr.

children

landedthis is not directed at children under 15, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you are under 15 in France, do not post a nickname or trace or enable optional analytics without a parent or guardian.
